San Francisco, Calif. — 21 June 2021 — Aechelon Technology Inc. announced today that the U.S. Air Force has awarded it a $24,069,170, firm-fixed price, C-type option contract for Image, Sensor, and Radar Data Generation Systems. The Image Generators are required to support high fidelity F-35 and F-22 JSE Flight Simulation Visual Display Systems in the Joint Simulation Environment. Work will be performed at Edwards Air Force Base and Nellis Air Force Base. Aechelon Technology systems are already in service at JSE Patuxent River Naval Air Station as well as Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
As per the USAF’s public notice of contract action from earlier this year, “The image generation platform interfaces with a dome projector system to display sensor graphics for F-35 and F-22 test or mission simulation environment. The storage system is a centralized system used to store, replay, and build realistic combat scenarios across DOD in tactical training, foreign-area familiarization, and mission rehearsal applications.”
“The specified Image Generation (I.G.) systems are a highly specialized major system used jointly by the USAF and U.S. Navy in a government-owned simulation architecture supporting developmental and operational flight testing, high-end advanced tactics and training development, and joint force experimentation projects in a near-peer adversary combat test environment. As such, the I.G. systems and worldwide databases must be of extraordinarily high precision and must be 100% inter-operable across the A.F. and Navy JSE enterprise.”
Aechelon Technology will supply over one hundred of its state-of-the-art pC-NOVA Nucleus™ 8-GPU Image Generators, a true multi-spectral multi-channel compact image generator featuring Multi-GPU NVIDIA® Quadro® with a dramatically reduced footprint. The Aechelon Nucleus combines C4ISR grade GPU-based simulation of OTW, NVG, EO/IR, and Radar support. Aechelon Technology will also provide several Aechelon Nexus™ large-scale data center infrastructure systems for the USAF’s rapid correlated database processing and update needs.
The system integrates a full resolution worldwide 3D visual and sensor database with extensive domestic and foreign areas of interest. This Global database is already deployed and being used on other DoD programs without the need of down-sampling, de-rating, or modification—thus ensuring complete correlation and commonality with other U.S. DoD devices also utilizing Aechelon Technology Image Generators.
